So I’m going to start off by telling you what the MyVu is not. It is not a television replacement, hell it’s not even a laptop replacement for watching videos. But beyond that the MyVu does have some great niche uses, if you’re comfortable with wearing a pair of goggles that beam images directly into your brain, now you can immerse yourself in the iPod video experience as well with MicroOptical’s myvu personal media viewer. The thin “stylish” myvu glasses include built-in 320X240 pixel LCD screens which give you the equivalent viewing size of a 27-inch television viewed from 6 feet away.

I put on a pair of these and it was certainly more enjoyable than trying to watch a video on the iPod’s built-in screen. It also allows you to watch whatever content you like without the fear of someone looking over your shoulder. Its thin design allows you to see above and below the glasses for “situational awareness.”

Aside from those things the MyVu does have a couple of faults. First off there aren’t any options to adjust the color. And at least the model I have has a washed out effect. This might be the result of a MyVu feature, which is the ability to “see through” the glasses. Which is quite handy when walking around the apartment while watching videos, which I don’t recommend.

All things aside this is going to fill a very small market effectively, especially at the $300 price tag. But it’s good to see attempts being made to make the iPod 5G video viewing more useful.

This may not just be for people on the move. As someone that shares the primary interface with the rest of the world with the rest of the family .. aka the TV .. a set of these opens up all sorts of alternatives.. iPod with 500GB HDD and a Digital TV tuner roll on !

These are completly awesome, i would wear these forsure, brings new meaning to personal video source, and with the possibilty of it being hooked up to either my IPOD or my ARCHOS AV400, there is no doubt these will sell.
